Emmalee's School Pageant

E.G. Danced and sang in her third grade pageant.

John's Flower

Rabbits munched on John's prized Xenias . . . a Mother's Day present. Until we can buy a better fence, we rigged a bowl and a scrap of screen to protect it.

Both his father's and mother's son . . .

He begged to sit in the center of the back seat. Better surround sound and a better view of the road, he said.

Daddy's new wheels

The wheels were one item that didn't need reconditioning on the new-to-me car. There were a few accessories which didn't work at purchase. So far these have been fixed with just a few fuses; nothing more complex than that. John went over the car with a fine tooth comb on Sunday, checking every switch, every button, every latch and every cranny. I let him replace fuses and top off the wiper fluid. He was a happy kid.

First flowers of spring.

Kick Off Your Muddy Boots

A mediocre restaurant in Nashville, IN with a great name. Think I'll rest my boots while I can, from riding shotgun on the 442.

Chess in the park

Not even a picnic table to be found, but John and Dad found a spot to play a couple games of chess.

By the lake

John and Emmalee toss rocks into the lake.

Spring Ride

John and I took a ride on my new bike. Was supposed to be a ride around the block, but we ended up a couple counties over at a town park. Of the new bike, he said it was 'awesome, roomier and more comfortable.' For me, having a bigger, more capable bike . . . One capable of accommodating a nearly adult size passenger . . . Was part of my buying decision.

Indiana Live Steam

When model trains are powered by steam, and are big enough for adults to ride on, they're called "Live Steam" models.

We recently visited Indiana Live Steam park, hoping to find some trains in action. Unfortunately, no trains were running.

However, we enjoyed taking a walking tour of their extensive railroad. We vowed to return when the trains are running.

Failed to proceed

British cars don't break down, they just fail to proceed. Well, mine isn't British, so I guess it just broke down.

Heading out

Not a good sign. . .

This is what my car left on the pavement after the tow truck pulled away.

Magic Bus

Through the eyes of a child, even a ride on a city bus can be a big adventure. The kids took their first ride on a city bus in down town Chicago during our recent visit. When we were done, Carolyn confessed it was here first CTA bus ride too. How could that be? She knows Chicago better than I do . . . How could I be the resident expert on anything chicago related?

Then I recall . . . Eighteen years ago i was a chicago commuter. My mad commuting skills paid off. Young kids who can't walk two miles of city streets in twenty degree weather were given a rest while we rode from the Sears Tower to Water Tower Place.

Walking down the Magnificent Mile eventually tuckered out Emmalee, who hitched a ride on mom's back.
